Math teaching that shows its work.

Proofstone makes complete high school math courses, interactive lessons, and professional development on AI for math teachers. Everything is designed and built by me, Matt Byers, a math teacher and curriculum designer.

The idea behind Proofstone

Everything Proofstone makes rests on three statements. Here's the reason for each.

Step Statements Reasons
1 Every step comes with a reason. Students hold on to math that makes sense to them.
2 Wrong answers get explained, not just marked. A mistake a student understands is one they stop making.
3 The adult in the room gets support too. A good math class shouldn't depend on having a math specialist on staff.
Therefore Math that holds up in a real classroom.

About me

I'm Matt Byers, a math teacher and curriculum designer based in Louisville, Kentucky.

My first classroom was in China, right after I finished my physics degree at Indiana University. In 2020 I moved to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia where I joined the Canadian School of Ulaanbaatar as a founding faculty member. There I built the school's grades 9–12 math curriculum from scratch, through AP Calculus, bringing together Mongolia's national standards and the curriculum of New Brunswick, Canada.

I hold an M.Ed. in Educational Technology from Moreland University and Kentucky & D.C. teaching licenses in mathematics. I design and code Proofstone's interactive lessons myself, and you can try one of them.
